Booking & Paying: All classes will be pre booked and paid for online via our website. Once at the gym you can also book your next/future classes no problem.

Entering the Gym: Please wear a face mask when entering the lobby (maximum of 6 people at a time). All students & coaches will have their temperature taken via a Non Contact Infrared Body Thermometer prior to entering the gym. Your face mask can be removed once in the gym, but please be aware that the ‘Rule of 6’ still applies.

Cleanliness: A deep clean of the facilities will be carried out before each training session. Another will happen in between sessions, and a final one after the last session. This will involve cleaning the punch bags with an antibacterial COVID-19 cleaning agent, and wiping the training mats for each station, it’ll be much appreciated if each person can help clean their station/bag.

Social distancing: All students will be spaced at a distance of at least 2 metres at their work stations during sessions (your bag). There will be a limit of one person at a time allowed into the shop.

Gym Capacity: All sessions will be on a pre book and pay basis. The limit of places in each session will be a maximum of 12, therefore allowing the social distancing of at least 2 metres. No spectators will be allowed to watch classes. If students arrive at the gym with another person, they will be asked to remain outside for the duration of the class to wait for the student, unless it is under specific circumstances and they are acting as a guardian for that student. In this instance, they will be solely responsible for that student, and their details will also be obtained.

Contact with other students: All classes will be strictly non contact with other people (no sparring and no pad work). This eliminates any face-to-face training, and allows us to adhere to the social distancing of at least 2 metres at all times.

Changing of clothing: Students will be asked to arrive at the gym in their training kit, and leave after class in the same kit, waiting until they get home to shower / wash.

Sharing of equipment: Students will not be permitted to borrow or share any equipment whatsoever. A pair of boxing gloves are required for use on the allocated punch/kick bag. In the event they do not own their own gloves, we can provide some inexpensive mits for them to purchase. Each session will be on a 1 person per punch bag basis (which will subsequently be thoroughly cleaned).

Towel/Yoga Mat: Students will be required to bring their own Yoga Mat/Towel for all floor work to ensure maximum cleanliness and hygiene.

Toilet facilities: Students will be allowed access to the toilet facilities on a one-in, one-out basis. They must only be used for the use of the toilet and not as a changing room.

We are back after lockdown and everything is awesome…

Safety: As everyone has their temperature taken when they enter the gym, you know that the people you are sharing your space with are fever free and healthy (unlike shops etc).

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy: Thanks to our nifty online booking system, it’s super simple to book your training sessions well in advance. Once in the gym, most people are then booking future sessions with Elly which is even more straightforward.

No Sharing!: That’s right, it’s your very own bag for the entire session. No sharing it with anyone else, and because you’re not holding the pads for anyone, it’s effectively double the workout.

Learn the art of Muay Thai: We are taking this time to really concentrate on learning the art of Muay Thai on an individual level. Your WAKT instructor has full focus on you on your bag throughout all the drills and routines.

Cardio and Strength: Interspersed with the Muay Thai drills, every class will always incorporate a healthy mix of cardiovascular training as well as good old strength and conditioning.

Diversity: Don’t be fooled into thinking that each ‘Book a Bag’ session is going to be the same. Whilst the Warm Up and Cool Down may have a similar format, every session is going to be diverse and challenging, keeping everyone (literally) on their toes. Plus, we have the new Saturday ‘Fighter Style’ sessions, and of course Yoga & Meditation too.

We are all one: It’s so lovely to have all you amazing people back together at last. Let’s all work together to build Team WAKT even stronger – whilst having as much fun as possible of course 😀

We are here to look after each other, so please take the time to read…

Booking & Paying: All classes will be pre booked and paid for online via our website. Once at the gym you can also book your next/future classes no problem.

Entering the Gym: All students & coaches will have their temperature taken via a Non Contact Infrared Body Thermometer prior to entering the gym. This will then reduce further risk value to as low a level as possible, having determined that no fever/high temperature is present in any individual.

Ventilation: Windows will be open at all times, and weather permitting the main doors will be open too.

Cleanliness: A deep clean of the facilities will be carried out before each training session. Another will happen in between sessions, and a final one after the last session. This will involve wiping down the punch bags with an antibacterial COVID-19 cleaning agent, and wiping the training mats for each station, it’ll be much appreciated if each person can help clean their station/bag.

Social distancing: All students will be spaced at a distance of at least 2 metres at their work stations during sessions (your bag). There will be a limit of one person at a time allowed into the shop.

Gym Capacity: All sessions will be on a pre book and pay basis. The limit of places in each session will be a maximum of 10, therefore allowing the social distancing of at least 2 metres. No specatators will be allowed to watch classes.

The only equipment required is a pair of boxing gloves to be used on their allocated punch bag, and in the event they do not own their own gloves, we will provide some for them to purchase. They can as an option bring their own water bottle which must not be shared with any other members, and their own towel which, again, must not be shared with any other members. Each session will be on a 1 person per punch bag basis, or no equipment at all (yoga, cardio), each student will stay on the same punch bag for the duration of the class (which will subsequently be thoroughly cleaned).

Toilet facilities: Students will be allowed access to the toilet facilities on a one-in, one-out basis. They must only be used for the use of the toilet and not as a changing room.

At last we have the ‘Green Light’ to re-open!

Date: Saturday 25th July (Bodmin opens August).

First Session Time: 10:30am to 11:15am.

Second Session Time: 11:30am to 12:15pm.

What’s the format?: As you can imagine we will be diligently adhering to our Risk Assessment, and following all the COVID-19 guidelines.
There will be a full blog post on this in much more detail on Monday, but in the meantime, here are some of the main points.

Book a Bag: All classes will be pre-book and pre-pay via the WAKT website here. The link for this feature will go live on Monday 20th July.

Class Sizes: It will be a maximum of 10 people per class (1 bag each), this can be a child or adult at a flat rate of £5 per bag booked.

Session Type: The current time-table isn’t valid due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
The new ‘Book a Bag’ sessions will have a format that will soon become familiar, but will differ vastly from session to session.

Session Content: Each session will start with a warm up and stretching. The main part of the workout will include: Drills (attack and defence), Cardio, Core Strength, Stamina, Flexibility, Footwork, Timing, and Aggression. Every session will end with a cool down. Nice.

Can’t wait to get all you lovely people back together again!

As previously mentioned, full details coming on Monday, please feel free to comment below, let’s get the party started 🙂

A Long Overdue Get Together!

Location: Rockpool, Godrevey, TR27 5ED (Rear Garden).

Meet Time: Sunday 12 July, 12:00pm Mid Day.

Facilities: The actual Rockpool main building will be closed due to the Corona Virus, but we will have access to the toilets. They will be serving food and drinks as a Take Away similar to a drive through, but on foot. Pay and order at one window, then collect at the next.

Reserve Your Place: Due to social distancing we are allowed a maximum of 42 people in the rear garden which has been reserved for us (7 tables x 6 people). As we are already up to the mid thirties in places reserved, we do need to know if you’re coming please, (or if you have booked and now unable to make it). You can contact us by commenting below, or via the WAKT Whatsapp group, or drop us a text on 07925 887920.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, it’s been too long!
