Muay Thai is one of the world’s most complete striking arts, combining punches, kicks, knees, elbows and clinch work. Many people from Redruth join WAKT after trying boxing or kickboxing because they enjoy the wider range of techniques and the clear progression in skill and confidence.
Why Muay Thai is so effective
- Multiple striking tools: You learn how to punch, kick, knee and elbow with proper technique.
- Clinch training: A major part of Muay Thai that develops balance, control and real-world striking ability.
- Clear structure: Sessions are designed to help you learn safely, whether you're brand new or already training a martial art.

Common questions
Do I need any experience?
No. Most Redruth students begin with no martial arts background. We teach you from the ground up, step by step.
What should I wear to my first class?
Shorts and a T-shirt are all you need. You’ll train barefoot on the mats, but slides are useful for moving around KRH. If you already have gloves or wraps, bring them — but they’re optional.
We also have a small shop at the gym where you can buy gloves, wraps, shin guards and WAKT kit whenever you're ready.
Is sparring required?
No. Sparring is optional. Most people train for fitness, confidence and learning a new skill — not competing.
