New Sessions: As you know, we’re always looking to improve, adapt and move forward.
That’s why were introducing two new sessions.
Well, in actual fact one is being reintroduced, whilst the other one is brand new to the Time Table.
Mastering Muay Thai: As the old saying goes, ‘Life moves pretty fast’.
That’s why we’re taking the time to break down crucial Muay Thai essentials, and work through the whole method and approach before taking it back to real time. This will offer the opportunity for you to have a greater understanding, and thus master what we’re covering, as well as the chance to break out of bad habits.
There will be a big emphasis on Clinch, with at least 2 or 3 rounds of Clinch techniques every session. Here you’ll be able to learn the art of Clinch from basic to advanced (without pulling each others head off), with everything broken down and explained. Other things we’ll be working on will be, how to generate full power in your strikes, footwork and head movement, core strength, stamina drills, and even diet and positive thinking.
First the theory, and then the practice.
Whilst the session will include discussion, and we’ll also be open to requests on what to cover as we move forward, rest assured that you will also be getting a workout, and there’s a good chance that you’ll be finishing with more than a light sweat!
Even the warm-ups will be different too, as you’ll likely be in your sparring kit from the get-go.
The new ‘Mastering Muay Thai’ sessions start next Monday 17th January at 7pm, and will be run by Mr Al and WBC Champ Kru Pete.
Yoga and Meditation: It’s coming back! The new sessions will be at the old slot of Saturday mornings at 9:30am. As before we’ll be starting with some Meditation and Mindfulness, before moving on to some lovely Yoga flows.
Obviously we’re a Muay Thai gym, but a massive advocate of Yoga too (Ying and Yang).
This quote says it better than I can;
“Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention; and sharpens concentration,” says Dr. Nevins
The Yoga and Meditation sessions start again on Saturday 5th February at 9:30am, and will be available to book online as before.
Fights: The dates of fight shows have now started to come through for 2022, the first one being confirmed is ‘Rising Stars’ on 19th February and is sanctioned by the UKMF. This predominately a Junior and Novice show, so ideal to get the ball rolling.
If you are interested in competing, please speak to your coach as soon as possible to let them know.
If you are stepping up, it goes without saying that you will need to be able to fully commit to your training.
If you really want to do the absolute best you can, the word is probably ‘obsessed’ about your training.
Hygiene: As the intensity of training has already escalated towards ‘Fight Camp’ level on many of the sessions, it’s important that we keep our training environment clean and safe. There’s always cleaning agent and cloth to hand, so please do clean down any equipment/bags before moving on.
Please also ensure that you have a Yoga or Sit Up Mat (or even towel) for floor work on the more intense sessions, such as Fighter Squad.
Thank you.
