Six WAKT fighters stepped up at the British Amateur Championships on Saturday and came back with three gold medals and one bronze.

The British Amateur Championships bring together the strongest amateur Muay Thai in the country. Every bout is hard earned and nothing is given away. To take six fighters into that and come home with four medals, three of them gold, is a result the whole gym can be proud of.

Behind every one of those medals are months of early mornings, hard pad rounds, sparring, weight management and the kind of work nobody sees. The fighters did it. The coaches and training partners who pushed them through it deserve their share too.

WAKT Muay Thai has been running in Pool, between Camborne and Redruth, since 1994. Whether you want to compete or just get fit and learn proper technique, there’s a session for you. Full timetable at wakt.co.uk.
