WAKT MONTHLY NEWS

December, 2022 | Monthly Issue

What’s on in December…

Well, as if you didn’t know, it’s the big fights this Sunday.

At the time of writing it’s a sell-out event of which we have six competing.

Rocco – Junior Muay Thai

Riley – Junior Muay Thai

Dan – Adult Muay Thai, C-Class Rules

Henry – Adult Muay Thai, C-Class Rules

Matt – Adult Muay Thai, C-Class Rules

Reece – Boxing Title Fight

All of these fighters have very tough matches, but they have trained hard and given it their all. Win, lose, or draw, we couldn’t be prouder of them.

Carn Brea Fight Show

If you’re reading this then you are already part of Team WAKT and have your ticket ready for the big day. You’ll have seen how much hard work and dedication has gone in to the preparation – not just the training itself, but the diet sacrifice and weight cut.

Please be sure to raise the roof on Sunday.

We are all one 🙏

Southern Junior Fight League

Starting next year, there will be a ‘Southern Junior Fight League’ with the first event being held on 5th February. We’ll be looking to get involved in this and have already starting to make some changes to the timetable in preparation.

The Friday ‘Kids Bag Smash’ has already been updated to ‘Kids Pads & Bags’, and we’ll also be looking into a possible ‘Under 14’s Fighter Squad’ in 2023.

Next Grading

As you probably know, we decided that the sensible thing was to push the December Grading date to 2023, either late Jan or early Feb. The reason’s because we’re so focused on Fight Camp right now and must remain so, plus we’ve had an influx of Under 14’s students who’d like to grade, but have not got enough time to prepare. More news on the new date after Sunday.

Christmas Training

We’re intending to keep training up and running right until Christmas Eve. We understand that this doesn’t leave much room for a Christmas drinks get-together but we need to focus on keeping things going for the Grading and Junior Fight League. Our plan is to fully reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd but we’re also considering having some training during the holidays for those who are up for it.
